Arkansas labs
Two paths are independently verified for private well owners through the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) Glen F. Baker Public Health Laboratory — Water Microbiology: (1) Private/Well Water Testing — obtain a Water Collection Kit from your local health unit for total coliform and E. coli only (samples must be received within 30 hours); (2) Sample collection instructions + return / hand-delivery via the official Private Drinking Water Sample Collection Instructions (return to the Local County Health unit for ADH courier, or hand deliver to 201 S. Monroe St., Little Rock). The table below lists 3 laboratories named on ADH’s Environmental Testing Laboratories resource list (retrieved 25 September 2026) for private owners who need minerals, parasites, or chemicals — ADH does not run those tests on the state-lab path. Address and phone are not printed on that page. Call before you collect water.

Ensuring the safety of well water is the responsibility of each individual. Whether testing for personal use or as a mortgage requirement, start by obtaining a Water Collection Kit from your local health unit. Private drinking water samples can only be tested for total coliform bacteria and E. coli and must be received within 30 hours of collection. The lab does not evaluate ponds, creeks, or other non-drinking sources, and does not test for minerals, parasites, or chemicals on this path.
