Connecticut labs
The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) Environmental Laboratory Certification Program (ELCP) publishes a list of in-state approved commercial laboratories certified to test drinking water. The list notes that all of these labs are approved to test drinking water, but only some offer testing for private wells. The table below transcribes all 17 labs from the list dated 10/09/2026; 13 are marked “Private Well Testing.” Call before you collect water. Test first.
What we could and could not verify

- Laboratories transcribed: 17 (town, name, license number and phone as printed). Street addresses are not printed on this list, so none are shown.
- Marked “Private Well Testing” (labs that accept samples from private wells, per the DPH legend): 13 of 17.
- Test groups follow the DPH legend: Bacteria = total coliform/E. coli; Inorganics = inorganic chemicals, physical, sanitary chemicals, nitrate, metals; Organics = semi-volatiles, haloacetic acids, VOCs, pesticides, PCBs, SOCs; Radiological = gross alpha/beta, radium, radon, uranium; Uranium = EPA Method 200.8.
- DPH says to call ELCP at (860) 509-7389 to confirm the parameters each lab is certified for. Out-of-state labs are not on this list.
- Fees intentionally omitted. Confirm with the lab.
